I have COVID-19 – what now?

You have COVID-19 if you have COVID-19 symptoms and either:

  • a positive swab result from a GP clinic, hospital, testing site or pathology company
  • or a positive home Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

For more information about a positive Rapid Antigen Test, see here.

A Northern Health guide with Information for people with COVID-19 and their carers, is available here.  This includes practical information about:

  • what symptoms to expect
  • how to care for yourself and your family
  • when and how to seek help

I may have COVID – what should I do?

If you have COVID symptoms, you should get tested. You should isolate until you have a negative result.

The best test is a swab (PCR) result from a GP clinic, hospital, testing site or pathology company.

Another option for testing is a home Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Information on these tests can be found in the Victorian Department of Health guide to home Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) here.

If you have a positive result from either test, see here.

Further information is available via the Coronavirus Hotline

Preparing ahead for COVID-19 at home

Families and individuals should be prepared for the possibility of someone in the household becoming infected.

The Department of Health has developed a useful checklist of things to put in place to reduce the stress and disruption that comes from becoming infected and needing to isolate, that you can find here.

Support for your Mental Health and Wellbeing is also important and can be found here.

Lastly, your General Practitioner (GP) can play a big role in your care and here are some ways to find one in your neighbourhood.
