There are various methods of recording complaints and compliments at Northern Health, the options have been summarised below.

For Research Participants (Consumers)

Concerns or complaints about the conduct of human research projects at Northern Health are rare.

However, when they arise, they are often concerns that can be quickly and effectively resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.

If you have any clinical questions or concerns, please contact your Principal Investigator/Study Coordinator as listed on the Patient Information and Consent Form (PICF).

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your involvement in the research project please contact the Research Development and Governance Unit (RDGU): ResearchDGU@nh.org.au or (03) 8405 2918.

For Researchers

As Northern Health does not have a HREC, the Research Governance complaints are handled by the RDGU.

    • Research Project Complaint – log your complaint via the complaints form within ERM.
    • Complaint involving HREC – log your complaint via Northern Health’s Director of Research (NH.Research@nh.org.au)
    • Complaint involving RDGU – log your complaint via NH.Research@nh.org.au

Depending on the complaint, this will either be logged on the RDGU’s complaint register or recorded in the VHIMS feedback module, you may also be asked by RDGU to submit your complaint via the complaints form within ERM. Following review of the complaint, feedback is to be provided to the complainant via email.

Recording Compliments and Suggestions

  • If you have any feedback for the RDGU, this is welcomed at any time via NH.Research@nh.org.au. These will be recorded in the VHIMS feedback module by reporting to the Patient Experience Office.
