Following the guidelines set forth by the International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice Guideline (GCP) and the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework, it is imperative that every member of the research team possesses the necessary qualifications and experience relevant to their assigned role in the study.

Good Clinical Practice

Researchers at Northern Health are required to undertake Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training. Below are two online options for GCP training.

  1. A-CTEC Trainingclick this link to login or if you do not have an account, use this link to sign up you may also wish to use this link to access a set of instructions to help. Once logged in, navigate to “online courses” under the Comprehensive Course Packages you will see Good Clinical Practice = Good Research Practice. The aim of this course is for you to become GCP-certified with the expected time for completion being 2.5 hours. This course is mutually recognised and listed by TransCelerate as meeting the minimum requirements of ICH E6 (R2) GCP.
  2. The Global Health network – This course has been updated to incorporate additional information from the latest International Conference on Harmonisation E6 (R2) Guidelines for GCP and re-named ‘ICH Good Clinical Practice E6 (R2)’ to reflect this update. Please take the revised version of this course for the latest updates and to gain the required certification. This can be accessed by using the link

From time to time, the NH Research Development and Governance Unit offers face to face GCP training courses for investigators. An email will be sent out to staff when these courses are available.

Once you receive your GCP certificate, please send a copy to NH.Research@nh.org.au and ResearchDGU@nh.org.au

Researcher Training

Looking for some Clinical Research training for Research Support Teams as well as Investigators? These packages will equip researchers with foundational knowledge about running clinical trials in Australia. They take time to complete but well worth the time as all information and examples are based on conducting research in Australia. Each package is mutually recognised and listed by TransCelerate as meeting the minimum requirements of ICH E6 (R2) GCP.

  • Trials Essentials for Investigators (ICH E6 R2 GCP included) – this is 5 courses with an evaluation and completion certificate
