Nursing Careers and Education
Nurturing and developing opportunities for the staff of the future is the linchpin of Northern Health’s approach to teaching and patient care. Northern Health has a major teaching facility at The Northern Hospital and provides education from undergraduate to Masters and Nurse Practitioner levels.
We have a dedicated Northern Centre for Health Education and Research (NCHER) which supports Registered Nurses and Midwives in obtaining and maintaining current clinical and academic knowledge to assist in the delivery of high quality and evidence based patient care. Nursing and Midwifery has academic affiliations with La Trobe University and University of Melbourne.
Education sessions are open to all nurses and midwives employed by Northern Health’s four campuses and affiliated local nursing homes and hostels.
The education programs are continually evaluated to ensure we are meeting the needs of our nursing and midwifery population and local community. Each year we conduct needs analysis surveys of our nursing and midwifery staff and managers to help us plan the education programs to meet their needs. Education is always changing and evolving, and we are flexible and ready to meet the challenge.
We currently offer:
