Transition to Practice Graduate Programs @ Northern Health

Northern Health is proud to support graduates as they transition into professional practice. We offer a range of program pathways, including exciting collaborative streams delivered in partnership with organisations across the North Metro and Mitchell Local Health Service Network (LHSN).

2027 Graduate Program Pathways

Recruitment to our 2027 programs is now underway.  We are excited to be offering a wide range of options for RN and RM candidates and look forward to meeting students of nursing and midwifery at university and trade events over the coming months.

About Our Programs

Structure & Content

Our graduate programs run over 12 months and are designed to fit part‑time hours, with eight shifts per fortnight.
Participants rotate through a diverse range of clinical areas aligned with their chosen program stream, ensuring broad exposure and meaningful hands‑on experience.

Support & Opportunity

Our dedicated teams of Clinical Support Nurses and Midwives play a central role in guiding graduates through the transition from student to practicing clinician. They provide consistent bedside support, complemented by reflective practice sessions and structured theoretical education.

Throughout the program, graduates have the opportunity to:

  • Consolidate and extend their clinical skills
  • Integrate theoretical knowledge into real‑world practice
  • Build confidence and professional capability

Our programs are intentionally structured, clinically focused, and designed to engage learners while empowering staff to grow and thrive.
