What is the Service?

Pregnancy Care is provided by Doctors and midwives, and appointments can be scheduled at the Northern Hospital, Craigieburn Health Service, Broadmeadows Hospital and Kilmore District Hospital, usually closest to your home. Pregnancy appointments can also be shared with your GP or Private Practice Midwife. Interpreters can be arranged for each appointment.

 What do I bring/need for my appointment?

  • Medicare Card
  • Copy of any pregnancy blood tests
  • Copy of all pregnancy ultrasounds

Service Overview

Northern Health provides Antenatal Care for women in the northern catchment. Models of care include:

  • High Risk
  • Collaborative
  • Low Risk/Midwife led Clinics
  • Shared Antenatal Care
  • Private Practice Midwife
  • Koori Maternity Service
  • Young Mums Clinic

Inclusion criteria:

  • Pregnant

 Exclusion criteria:

  • Nil

Note:  If patient is deemed high risk requiring tertiary level pregnancy care, transfer of care will be arranged

How to Refer:

GP referrals: Use HealthLink to send referrals, results and reports. For more information click here

Other health services (hospitals, allied health, specialists etc.): Fax your referral to 8405 8616

Referral must include:

  • Gravity/Parity
  • Estimated Due Date (EDC)
  • Past Medical/Obstetric History
  • BMI
  • Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander background
  • Copy of all routine Antenatal Blood Tests
  • Copy of Combined Screening results/NIPS
  • Copy of Dating Ultrasound and any subsequent ultrasounds
