Breaking Through the Barriers: Family Violence Forum

September 13, 2018

Family violence has been identified as a major health issue. Vulnerable populations are more at risk of being a victim/survivor of family violence. People who identify with these vulnerable patient groups face increased barriers to disclosing family violence, and accessing specialist support services. Vulnerable populations include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, LGBTI+, Rural and Regional, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and refugee populations, disclosing within the workplace and more.

In order to provide best care to our patients, Northern Health and Kilmore & District Hospital are holding a half  day forum on Friday 23rd November 2018.  The theme of the Forum is Breaking Through the Barriers.  It runs for and is being held on .Friday 23rd November 2018

The focus of the forum is to provide practical ways health professionals can be more supportive, approachable, and effective in supporting patients when family violence is present within the hospital setting. The desired outcome being increased comfort, accessibility to support services and improved health outcomes.

The forum is an open event and we would like to extend an invitation to yourself and anyone else you think may like to attend.
