Patients receiving care in the  Inpatient , Outpatient or Community setting may be prescribed equipment, dressings or other products by their treating clinician (Doctor, Nurse or Allied Health Professional). These products may be issued by the clinician directly or patients will be directed to the Rehab Supply Centre to collect the product.

 Northern Health requires up-front payment for all equipment prescribed in NH Specialist Outpatient Clinics and other Ambulatory/Outpatient services. This includes the purchase of pressure garments, gait aids such as crutches and boots/splints for fractures and other injuries. Payments can be made by cash, eftpos or credit card on the day at the Rehab Supply Centre (The Northern Hospital) or the cashier at Bundoora Extended Care Centre or Broadmeadows Health Service.

If equipment or products are prescribed on home visits, patients can call the Rehab Supply Centre and make payment over the phone or an invoice will be issued.

For some Inpatients, equipment may be loaned  for a period of 28 days,  if this is required for a safe discharge. Single use items such as crutches, hygiene products and dressings are required to be purchased. The treating clinician will discuss this during the Inpatient stay.

Some equipment is also available for hire through the Rehab Supply Centre. A weekly hire fee is payable.
