Vascular Surgery

The Vascular Surgery Service provides assessment and treatment for conditions involving blood vessels which include arteries and veins.

Vascular surgery also works closely with Podiatry and other specialities to provide The High Risk Foot Service which treats conditions such as diabetic foot ulcers.  Common conditions include diseases of the arteries such as peripheral vascular disease โ€œblocked arteriesโ€, aneurysms and varicose veins.

What to expect from the service?

Patients may be referred by their local General Practitioner or other doctor to be seen in the Vascular Surgery clinic, where a member of the vascular surgery team will see the patient, review their condition and recommended treatment plans which may involve surgery. Other members of the team may be involved for further care. Patients are also seen through the emergency department for more urgent conditions.
