Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness Program focuses on families where a parent has a mental illness. The aim of the service is to connect the whole family to the support, resources and services they require.
Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness Program provides resources, linkages and runs peer support groups for children (Champs), young people (Space4Us) and for parents. Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness Program also provides secondary consultation within the community mental health teams where there are families with a parent with a mental illness or mental health challenge.
What to expect from the service?
Consumers can access the Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness Program through their Community Mental Health Clinician.
Parents who have a mental illness or challenge and are not consumers of Northern Healthโs Mental Health Program can contact the Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness coordinators for linkage into services, to be provided with resources or to refer their children into a peer support group.ย ย
