Research Governance refers to the processes that are followed to ensure that the project aligns with strategic intent, is feasible and satisfies all of the regulatory requirements, including ethical compliance. Obtaining approval is managed by the Research Development and Governance Unit (RDGU) and the documentation required, including sign off by relevant persons at Northern Health, will differ depending on the type of project being conducted. This process is commonly referred to as Site Specific Approval (SSA).

RDGU has a helpful checklist to guide you in obtaining the necessary approvals and providing the correct documentation. This can be provided on request by emailing our office at ResearchDGU@nh.org.au
