Building a better future together

In response to The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System recommendations, Northern Health became a designated mental health service on 1 July 2022. Northern Health is the third largest mental health service in Victoria, providing services to adults and older adults aged 26+ who have a diagnosed mental health condition in the Whittlesea, Hume, Merri-bek and Darebin LGAs.

We offer inpatient and community services to adults age 26+ residing in the Northern Health catchment.

Older Adult Mental Health Services

We offer inpatient, community and residential services to older adults residing in the Northern Health catchment.

Child and Youth Mental Health Services

Mental Health Services for children and youth in the Northern Health catchment are provided by:

Services for Child and Youth Mental Health are provided based on the location where you live.  

Support for you and your family while you are receiving care

Throughout your mental health journey, you will be supported by a multidisciplinary treating team. This team includes Consultants, Registrars and Mental Health Clinicians from a range of professions including nurses, occupational therapists, social workers and psychologists.

Integral to the team and your support are the Lived Experience Peer Workers:

Lived experience employees have a special understanding of the complexities and barriers people may face when accessing mental health services. The expertise and contribution of lived experience is recognised and valued in helping Northern Health improve the quality of its services.
