Northern Health Work Experience Program

About the Program

The Northern Health Work Experience Program provides students with an opportunity to gain meaningful insight into the healthcare environment. Participants will shadow healthcare professionals across a range of clinical and non-clinical settings, helping them develop a deeper understanding of career pathways in health.

This program is designed to inspire the next generation of healthcare workers and support students in making informed career decisions.

What You’ll Experience

Participants may have the opportunity to:

  • Shadow healthcare professionals in action
  • Learn about hospital departments and services
  • Understand patient care processes and hospital operations
  • Gain exposure to roles such as nursing, allied health, administration, and support services
  • Develop communication and teamwork skills in a professional setting

Note: Activities may vary depending on placement availability and department guidelines.

2026 Work Experience Program Update

Thanks so much for your interest in the Northern Health 2026 Work Experience Program. We’ve had an amazing response this year and are really pleased to see so many students keen to get involved.

Our 2026 program has now reached full capacity, so we’re no longer accepting placements or expressions of interest for 2026.

We really appreciate everyone who took the time to apply. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to accept any further applications for 2026.

Details and application dates for the 2027 Work Experience Program are expected to be released in late 2026, so please check back then for updates.
