Thanks to the generous support of the Muriel and Les Batten Foundation, Northern Health has purchased two new Panda warmers and a Sonosite ST Ultrasound System, helping our clinical teams provide high-quality care for newborn babies, expectant mothers and their families.
Bruce Batten, Trustee of the Muriel and Les Batten Foundation, recently visited Northern Health with his daughters, Emily and Elizabeth, to see firsthand the difference the Foundation’s support is making for our patients and clinical teams.
During their visit, they met members of our Emergency Department team, including Rebekah Barker, Paediatric Emergency Physician, Christie Wilkins, Manager Nursing Education Emergency Department, and Casey Crooks, ED Clinical Support Nurse.
The team demonstrated one of the new Panda warmers, which provides a safe and controlled environment to help keep newborn babies warm and stable immediately after birth.
“When the Emergency Department found out about the new Panda warmers, everyone was just over the moon. Having the latest equipment here makes a world of difference to our teams and patients. It’s hard to put into words what the support of the Muriel and Les Batten Foundation means,” said Casey.
The family also visited the Maternity Assessment Centre, where Simone, Midwifery Unit Manager, Birthing Suite and Maternity Assessment Centre, demonstrated the new Sonosite ST Ultrasound System.
With more than 3,600 babies born at Northern Health each year, the new ultrasound system will support our clinical teams to provide timely assessment and care for expectant mothers and their babies.
