Meet the fourth generation born at Kilmore District Hospital

For one local family, welcoming baby Isabel into the world was more than a joyful milestone – it was the continuation of a remarkable family legacy spanning four generations at Northern Healthโ€™s Kilmore District Hospital.

Newborn Isabel has become the fourth generation of women in her family to be born at Kilmore, making her arrival a deeply meaningful moment for her family and the local hospital community.

Adding to the significance, baby Isabel was named after her great-great-grandmother, Isabel, who was also born at Kilmore District Hospital many decades ago.

From great-grandmother Alison, grandmother Jenny Crump, mother Chelsea Crump, and now baby Isabel, four generations of women have begun their life journey in the same hospital, a rare and special connection that speaks to the enduring role Kilmore plays in the local community.

For Chelsea, choosing to welcome her daughter at Kilmore was always close to her heart.

“Throughout my pregnancy, I kept thinking about the connection our family has with Kilmore Hospital,” Chelsea shared.

“I always knew I wanted to give birth here and continue that tradition. There’s something incredibly special about knowing my daughter is part of that story too.”

The Chapman familyโ€™s roots in Kilmore and surrounding areas stretch back to the mid-1800s, making the moment even more meaningful.

Chelsea said the care she received throughout her journey made the experience all the more memorable.

“The midwifes here have been absolutely wonderful. They’ve gone above and beyond to make us feel supported and cared for,” she said.

“Having this service so close to home has been amazing, but what really stands out is the connection with the staff. They make you feel so comfortable – it truly feels like a community.”

For Grandmother Jenny Crump, welcoming her first grandchild while reflecting on the familyโ€™s long history with the hospital was an emotional moment.

“This has been such a beautiful experience for our family,” Jenny said.

“To think that four generations of our family have been born here is incredibly special. Becoming a grandmother for the first time and sharing this moment in a place that holds so much family history is something I’ll never forget.”

Jenny also praised the care her family received.

“We couldn’t fault the experience here. The staff have been exceptional, and that sense of community connection is something truly special.”

Stories like this are a reminder that hospitals are more than places of care, they are woven into the lives of families and communities across generations.

At Kilmore District Hospital, baby Isabelโ€™s arrival is not just the beginning of a new chapter, but a continuation of a story more than a century in the making.
