Virtual Specialist Consults (VSC) is an alternative to outpatient referrals. VSC can support complex patients in the community to strengthen continuity of care and help ease pressure on specialist clinic departments across Victoria.
Available for all Victorians, the VSC service is supported by the Department of Health and delivered by Northern Health.
Specialist consults available through VSC
VSC offers the following consult types:
- Case Conferences that involve the referring clinician, a VSC specialist, and an additional healthcare provider
- Co-consults that involve the referring clinician, patient, and VSC specialist.
- Direct Patient Consults that involve the patient and VSC specialist only (only available to regional and remote health services in Victoria).
