Once again this year, WRaPEM will celebrate wellbeing week in collaboration with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). This will be the second year Northern Health has participated.

In light of the evolving COVID -19 pandemic we are all experiencing unprecedented high demand for our health system and facing unknowns in terms of time, care and severity – so caring for ourselves and each other is paramount.

The wellbeing week will focus on a range of information/resources throughout the week, and are excited to report that Jo Gibbs form TREAT (Therapeutic Relaxation and Enhanced Awareness Training) will deliver her very popular Rest and Recovery session via videolink.

Themes for the week include:

  • Monday 6 April:  Healthy Eating and Mindset – a range of resources and education around these themes will be provided.
  • Tuesday 7 April: Self-care – Live streamed 15 minute TREAT sessions from 1 pm (further details to confirmed locally).
  • Wednesday 8 April – Healthy Body – Our Physiotherapy department will share ideas on home programs and keeping fit.
  • Thursday 9 April – Healthy Connections – Today we ask all our staff to check in with their colleagues and ask R U OK? Perhaps there is a staff member who might need  assistance with groceries and you can reach out to them.  We explore the concept of kindness and compassion in healthcare.

We are committed to the ongoing wellbeing of our ED staff and see this week and its themes as an ongoing priority for the team.  There is already an established wellbeing program in ED and we will continue to work with staff to ensure it meets their needs.

Thank you to all staff for their continued commitment, and hard work.  It is very much appreciated by your colleagues, other staff within the hospital and the community more broadly.
