| For many patients, receiving health care and services and being in hospital can generate much anxiety, loss of self-esteem and dignity through separation from the home environment. The positive benefits of pets have been demonstrated to minimise social isolation, reduce anxiety, combat depression and overcome other negative aspects of hospitalisation. All pets are orientated through the Lort Smith Animal Hospital in Flemington before joining the Pet Partner Program. |
