Spending any amount of time in a health facility can often be very lonely.
For those patients without family near by or unable to visit regularly, it is very comforting to have a friendly volunteer popping in for a chat, a walk or having a chat.
Sometimes a volunteer can help out with the ‘little’ things, such as straightening the bed, passing an item that is just out of reach or just giving a smile and letting the patient know that they are being thought of.
