Northern Health Midwifery Graduate Nurse Program

The Northern Health Midwifery Graduate Nurse Program is delivered at The Northern Hospital (TNH) - 325 acute bed public hospital located in Epping, 25kms north of the City.

TNH opened in February 1998 and provides a comprehensive range of women’s health services. These options include continuity and flexibility of care to provide for individual needs.

Midwifery services include 9 birthing suites, 28 obstetric/gynaecology beds and a 16 cot Special Care Nursery (Level 2).

The unit facilitates between 1,800 – 2,000 births annually.  A variety of models of care are used to address the needs of our diverse population.  All models of care are women’s centred and team based.

Others services provided are Domiciliary Care, Neonatal Hospital in the Home (HITH), Pregnancy Assessment Day Stay Service (PARDs), Young Mums' Clinic, Diabetic Clinic, Lactation & Breastfeeding Service, Breastfeeding Day Stay, Antenatal Education and a Preadmission Clinic (Antenatal and Caesarean Section).  Antenatal clinics have both midwives and obstetricians.

There are three satellite services at Panch Health Service, Broadmeadows Health Service and Craigieburn Health Service.
