Richmond #9 Supports Fun Run #10!

Star Richmond midfielder and northern suburbs resident, Trent Cotchin, has thrown his support behind the 10th annual Meadowglen & YMCA Fun Run and Walk.

"I am very excited to be a part of the 2009 fun run,” Trent said.

The event is taking place on Sunday, October 18 at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium and Cotchin will be in attendance on the day to start the race and present trophies to the winners.

All proceeds from the Fun Run will go towards the purchase of equipment to treat Allied Health patients at the five Northern Health campuses.

Northern Health CEO, Greg Pullen, said Northern Health’s Allied Health services incorporate a wide range of disciplines including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech pathology, social work and hand therapy services.

“We are looking forward to another great day to celebrate the 10th Meadowglen & YMCA Fun Run,” Mr Pullen said.

“The City of Whittlesea and the Mill Park YMCA do a fantastic job in coordinating the event and Northern Health is very thankful for the support our services receive," Mr Pullen said.

“All of the money raised from the 2009 Fun Run will help to purchase Allied Health equipment for Northern Health’s campuses.

“This includes adjustable treatment beds for our physiotherapy departments, an ultra sound machine to treat patients with soft tissue injuries, specialised wheelchairs and rehabilitation equipment used by our occupational therapists,” Mr Pullen said.

“Almost 500 entrants took part in last year’s event so it would be terrific to see as many people as possible participate this year to not only improve their own health but also support local healthcare services.   I am encouraging staff across Northern Health to enter as well.

“Northern Health provides Allied Health services at all of its five campuses.

“These services play a vital role in the recovery of patients needing treatment for a range of health issues including maternity, intensive care, surgical, emergency and paediatrics patients,” he said.
