Northern Health's fifth campus, the $13.2 million Craigieburn Health Service, celebrated its first birthday on Friday, April 11th.
Craigieburn Health Service is an alternative to hospital-based services for many day procedures and outpatient visits. It is able to treat people for a range of health conditions that require specialist medical care, but do not require an overnight stay in hospital.
Craigieburn Health Service provides a service that improves coordination and integration of health care by:
- Focusing care on patients, and those caring for them, not institutional or staff needs
- Enabling health professionals to work in a team environment crossing traditional hospital, community and GP service barriers
- Creating a facility that is supported by advanced technology
Consultation with the local community helped to determine what services were needed at Craigieburn. These included are:
- Renal dialysis (6 chairs)
- Day medical procedures (6 chairs)
- Oncology
- Specialist medical clinics
- Allied health and rehabilitation services
- Diagnostic services
