About the Northern Health Graduate Midwifery Program

The aim of the Northern Health Graduate Midwifery Program is to facilitate the transition of the novice midwife to advanced beginner midwife through a structured, clinically focussed program.  The program prepares you to work independently in the acute care environment.

Clinical Nurse Educators, Preceptors and experienced Midwives provide practical assistance and support in the clinical environment to assist the graduates in this transistion process.

GRADUATE MIDWIFERY PROGRAM DETAILS
- Duration 54 weeks
- 3 days Graduate specific orientation program / followed by supernumerary shifts on each rotation.
- 5–7 paid Graduate specific study days
- Clinical preceptors
- Free inhouse education
- Clinical Nurse Educators 
- Weekends and Evening Clinical Nurse Educator cover January to June
- Educators in specialty areas
- 2-4 weeks night duty.

 
POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR 2009
- 6 graduate midwife positions
- Commencing March.
- The program is offered full time
- Honours Program Graduates accommodated.
