Speech Pathology

Speech Pathology at Northern Health is a growing service providing opportunity for professional development and promotion.  Speech Pathologists at Northern Health have the opportunity to work in acute, sub-acute and community settings developing expertise in special interest areas.

The department runs a Videofluoroscopy clinic at The Northern Hospital, and has recently broadened its service to include paediatrics and a  voice clinic at The Northern Hospital.

Two grade one rotation positions were created in 2004 across acute and sub-acute sites to encourage competency development across the continuum of care.

Sharing of knowledge is highly valued and encouraged through regular department meetings including business meetings, professional development activities, cross-campus quality improvement activities and regular evidence based practice meetings.

The department is committed to bringing evidence based practice into daily practice.  Opportunities for staff to take on different roles through research or project work are strongly encouraged as they present the prospect of advancing one's skill base and capability in wider forums.
