Occupational Therapy

The Occupational Therapy Department has a commitment to staff development, research, client-centred and evidence-based practice. We are supported by the Allied Health Directorate and complete extensive site-based, cross-campus and interdisciplinary quality projects each year. All staff are encouraged to actively take part in service development, through collaborative goal-setting and participation in projects.

Grade 1 staff rotate every 6 months through 7 positions across the health service. The rotations are organised to give therapists a broad range of skills across a variety of clinical programs and to encourage increased understanding of OT roles to facilitate continuum of care. There are also permanent grade one positions at each site.

All staff participate in supervision on a regular basis and structured PD programs are in place to enhance therapists' skills and satisfaction, and to provide peer support. As part of a growing health service, OT staff are encouraged to take opportunities for promotion with our health service and the cross-campus education programs facilitate these transitions.
