Allied Health

Allied Health plays a significant role in providing services to the community through inpatient, ambulatory and community based programs.  Medical, surgical, emergency, intensive and coronary care, paediatrics, woman's and maternal health, aged care, palliative care and rehabilitation programs are all supported by Northern Health Allied Health staff .

The Vision of the Allied Health Directorate is to:

Support Northern Health's vision and values by continuing to grow and develop as health professionals; being leaders and experts in our clinical practice, and; ensuring our services are client centered, evidence based and cost effective.

Our motto is:  "Success goes to those who go to the future first"

Our vision is supported by a business plan which is reviewed annually.

A major focus of the Allied Health Directorate is to support staff professionally and in the development of research activities.  To this end an Allied Health Learning and Research Unit (AHLRU) has been established.

More detail on the initiatives of the AHLRU can be found on this website - coming soon

The AHLRU enables the ongoing development of evidence based practice.  This coupled with a defined clinical governance structure for Allied Health ensures safe and quality care for patients and families.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Northern Health, the Director of Allied Health plays a strategic role across all four hospital campuses.  The role is supported by an integrated Allied Health structure, elements of which include succession planning for Managers and clinicians.
