Pet Partners

For many patients, receiving health care and services and being in hospital can generate much anxiety, loss of self-esteem and dignity through separation from the home environment.

The positive benefits of pets have been demonstrated to minimise social isolation, reduce anxiety, combat depression and overcome other negative aspects of hospitalisation.

Pet Partner volunteers may bring their dog in to spend time with selected patients to provide comfort, especially for patients who have an animal of their own at home.

To participate, pets must have current immunizations and be cleaned before visiting patients.
