What is the Audiology Service?

Audiology at Northern Health is a diagnostic service, aiming to diagnose and monitor hearing impairment. We assess hearing from anyone aged 6 months to adult, referred internally from the hospital or from other public hospitals.

The audiology department works closely with the Ear, Nose and Throat service and Paediatric Developmental Assessment Service at The Northern Hospital. We only accept internal referrals.

The Northern Health Audiology department consists of two part time audiologists.

What services do we offer?

We offer a range of audiology assessments at Northern Health including:

  • Behavioural assessments:
    • Behavioural Observation Audiometry
    • Visual Reinforcement Audiometry
    • Play Audiometry
    • Pure Tone Audiometry
    • Speech Audiometry
  • Impedance Audiometry (Tympanometry)
  • Oto-Acoustic Emissions (OAEs)

What do I bring/need for my appointment?

Please bring any previous audiology or Ear, Nose & Throat letters

Service Overview

The service at Northern Health aims to identify and manage hearing impairment in children from the age of 6 months to 18 years referred from within Northern Health.

We are currently only accepting internally referred patients.

The Northern Health audiology department consists of two part time audiologists. This service operates from the Northern Hospital Epping.
