Research

Northern Health has an active research program that spans many research areas and departments.

The Northern Health research community has developed a strategic plan to guide and grow our research activity. In particular, research at Northern Health focuses on “Good health for life” through research in the areas of:

  • Genetics
  • Chronic disease
  • Ageing
  • Health systems, structure and processes

Our multidisciplinary research community is working to strengthen and build new partnerships and networks. This is evidenced by our active collaborations with a number of universities, other health services and research institutes.

Northern Health has a strong commitment to building research capacity. This is demonstrated by allocated funding to support research infrastructure and strengthen the research culture. This has enabled the establishment of a small grants scheme, research scholarships and research education programs, which have all contributed to an increase in research activity by Northern Health staff and students.
