Dietetic Services at Northern Health

Northern Health Dietitians work across the acute, continuing care and ambulatory care sites providing both an adult and paediatric service. They are eligible for membership with the Dietitians Association of Australia. The Dietitians role is to assess individual patient’s nutritional status and provide nutrition support and counselling based on current evidence based practice.

The Northern Health Dietitians team consists of approximately 13 Dietitians working in either full time or part-time roles.  The Nutrition Department demonstrates a strong commitment to staff development and support through participation of all staff in a structured supervision program.  Staff are also encouraged to undertake regular professional development activities including participation in the department’s professional development program and in those external to the organisation.  Northern Health supports research and has a committed allied health research and education team to support staff wishing to broaden their careers in this way.
